As a boy, Gordon loved breakfast time. Every morning his mother sent him to the bakery at the corner of their street to buy freshly baked breadcakes. When he returned, his mum would butter the cakes and give the children one each. It kept him going all morning, especially if his sisters didn't feel hungry and he got two!

Gordon says, 'I love mornings, and love starting each day listening to God speaking through His Word, and breaking the bread of life. Along with David in Psalm 143:8 Gordon's prayer is,

'Cause me to hear Your loving-kindness in the morning...

Cause me to know the way in which I should walk.'

He says, 'We are inclined to talk to God or to discuss what He has said. Sometimes we have already decided what we will do. David appeals to God to "make" him hear. God wants to calm our hearts and spirits each day and cause us to hear His "loving-kindness in the morning" so that we can walk with Him throughout the day. The aim of Breadcakes for Breakfast, Gordon's third book, is to help to stimulate this important aspect of the Christian life.

Gordon Kell has been involved in Christian ministry for over fifty years, including camps, young married couples' weekends, conferences in the UK and abroad, and radio broadcasts. He commands a wide respect for 'rightly handling the word of truth' (2 Tim 2:15), combining awareness of its depth with a succinct and accessible style.

Gordon and his wife June have one daughter and four grandchildren, and live in north-east Lincolnshire.

Quand il était enfant, Gordon aimait beaucoup le petit déjeuner. Chaque matin, sa mère l'envoyait à la boulangerie au coin de la rue pour acheter des petits pains fraîchement cuits. À son retour, sa mère beurrait les pains et en donnait un à chacun des enfants. Cela lui permettait de tenir toute la matinée, surtout si ses sœurs n'avaient pas faim et qu'il en prenait deux ! 

Gordon dit : « J'aime les matins et j'aime commencer chaque journée en écoutant Dieu parler à travers Sa Parole et en rompant le pain de vie. » Tout comme David dans le Psaume 143 :8, Gordon prie ainsi :

« Fais-moi entendre dès le matin ta bonté...

Fais-moi connaitre le chemin où j'ai à marcher. »

Il dit : « Nous avons tendance à parler à Dieu ou à discuter de ce qu'Il a dit. Parfois, nous avons déjà décidé ce que nous allons faire. David fait appel à Dieu pour qu'il « l'entende ».  Dieu veut apaiser nos cœurs et nos esprits chaque jour et nous faire entendre sa « bonté le matin » afin que nous puissions marcher avec lui tout au long de la journée. Le but de Breadcakes for Breakfast, le troisième livre de Gordon, est de contribuer à stimuler cet aspect important de la vie chrétienne.

Gordon Kell est impliqué dans le ministère chrétien depuis plus de cinquante ans, notamment dans des camps, des week-ends pour jeunes couples mariés, des conférences au Royaume-Uni et à l'étranger et des émissions de radio. Il suscite un grand respect pour « exposant justement la parole de la vérité » (2 Tim 2:15), combinant la conscience de sa profondeur avec un style succinct et accessible.

Gordon et sa femme June ont une fille et quatre petits-enfants et vivent dans le nord-est du Lincolnshire.
